Google Business Profile

1Does your business have a verified Google Business Profile?

Search your business name on Google Maps. A verified profile shows your details and lets you manage them.

2Is your profile filled in: categories, hours, services, description and photos?

Run the free Google Business Profile health check for a detailed look.

3Does your profile link to your website, and does the link work?

Your website

4Do you have a website on your own domain, not only a Facebook page?

For example yourbusiness.com.au.

5Is your phone number on every page, and can a phone user tap it to call?

Open your site on your phone and try tapping the number.

6Does your website have a clear page or section for each main service?

One page per main service, in the words customers use.

7Does your website say which suburbs or region you cover?

Service-area businesses often use a service areas page or short local pages.

8Does your website load quickly and work well on a phone?

Try it on your own phone, away from wi-fi.

Showing up on Google

9Is your website set up in Google Search Console?

Search Console is Google's free tool for website owners.

10When you search your business name, do your website or profile come up first?

Use a private window so your own history doesn't affect it.

11When you search your main service and suburb, do you appear on the map or the first page?

For example "electrician Toowoomba", in a private window.

Consistent details

12Do your business name, address and phone match everywhere they appear online?

Check your website, Google profile, Facebook page and any directories.

13Are your listings on the directories or platforms your customers use up to date?

Only the ones that matter in your trade and area. Old listings with old details do more harm than good.

Reviews and reputation

14When was your most recent Google review?

Sort your reviews by newest.

15Do you reply to your reviews, including any negative ones?

A short thank-you is enough. Calm, polite replies to complaints.

16Do you ask every happy customer for a review?

As part of finishing the job, not now and then.

Easy to contact

17Can a customer see straight away how to call, message or book you?

Look at your homepage and profile as if you'd never heard of your business.

18Do you usually reply to new enquiries the same business day?

Calls, messages and website forms.

How it's worked out

Each answer earns points on a 100-point checklist BuzzBrain put together from common local visibility problems. It's our diagnostic score, not a Google score or a ranking, and Google doesn't endorse it.

  1. Google Business Profile20 points: having a verified profile, filling it in, linking your website
  2. Your website26 points: your own site, tap-to-call number, service pages, areas covered, working well on a phone
  3. Showing up on Google14 points: Search Console set up, your name search, your service search
  4. Consistent details12 points: name, address and phone matching everywhere, current listings
  5. Reviews and reputation20 points: recent reviews, replies, asking every customer
  6. Easy to contact8 points: a clear next step, replying to enquiries the same day
  7. AnswersYes earns full points, Partly earns half, No earns none. Not sure earns none and is listed to check

Nothing is tested automatically. You answer from what you can see, so the result is only as good as the answers.

Worked example

A plumbing business has a verified profile and its own website, but no separate service pages, patchy reviews and some details that don't match across listings.

Assumptions

  • Your answers are the only input. Nothing connects to Google or your website, and nothing leaves your browser.
  • The checklist reflects BuzzBrain's view of common local visibility problems. It isn't Google's criteria.
  • Five or more "Not sure" answers mark the score as provisional.
  • A higher score doesn't guarantee rankings, calls or sales. It shows common problems you can fix.

This check gives a BuzzBrain diagnostic score based only on your answers. It isn't a Google score, isn't endorsed by Google, and doesn't predict rankings, enquiries or sales.

FAQ

Local Visibility Check questions. Answered.

Is this a Google score or a ranking?

No. It's a BuzzBrain diagnostic score from our own checklist. It doesn't measure or predict where you rank.

Does this check my website automatically?

No. You answer the questions from what you can see. Nothing connects to your website or Google.

How is this different from the Google Business Profile check?

This one looks at the bigger picture: your profile, website, consistency, reviews and how easy you are to contact. The profile check goes into your Google profile in detail.

Will fixing these items improve my ranking?

We can't promise that, and nobody honestly can. The checklist finds common problems that can stop customers finding or choosing you.
