The calculator multiplies what slips through on an average job by how often it happens.

Worked example
A plumber completes about 12 jobs a week. On an average job, 15 minutes of extra work and $15 of small parts don't get charged.

15 minutes at $95 an hour is $23.75 of time. Add $15 of parts and that's $38.75 a job, or $22,320 over 48 weeks.
Assumptions
- Your hourly rate is what you'd normally charge a customer for an hour, not what that hour costs you.
- The extra time and uncharged materials are averages across all your jobs.
- You do about the same number of jobs every working week.
- Unbilled time is valued at your full hourly rate, as if it could have gone on the invoice.
- Amounts are in Australian dollars and used exactly as you enter them. GST is only included if your figures include it.

What counts as an unbilled extra?
Anything you do or supply on a job that doesn't make it onto the invoice: extra time on site, a small additional fix, extra fittings, consumables, disposal, small parts or unexpected extras.
How accurate is the result?
It's an estimate based on the figures you enter. Use your own honest averages. The closer they are to what really happens on your jobs, the more useful the result.
Why does it start at 48 working weeks?
48 weeks allows for about four weeks of holidays and quiet periods. You can change it to match your own year.
Does the result include GST?
The calculator uses your figures exactly as you enter them. If your hourly rate includes GST, the result will too. Enter amounts the same way you usually quote them.
Do I need to sign up or give my email?
No. The calculator is free, runs in your browser and shows your result straight away. It doesn't ask for your name, email or any contact details.
